I min bok bjuder på filmen på otroliga skådisar. Otroligt vacker rent estetiskt. Meditativt och perfekt avvägt klaustrofobiskt foto. Högst intressant moraliskt. Naturalistiskt och subtilt med en regissör i Reichardt som har en enormt kontroll över varje detalj. Sparsamt och nästan skräckinjagande musik. Slutet perfekt. Berörde mig både känslomässigt och intellektuellt.

OK. Ja, då såg vi olika saker. Men visst var skådespelarna helt OK och naturscenerierna imponerande! Så där VAR det förmodligen när de drog västerut - och inte dramatiskt och romantiskt som i andra filmer och TV-serier man sett om denna bit av Amerikas historia!

Funny enough, my dad was the only one who was worried about the graphic nature shown in the movie. My mom, me or my sister was so intrigued to watch this, to finally see something we had witnessed. To get an conclusion of the horror we had kept silenced within ourself for so many years.

Some of the most infamous crimes in the war. In no particiluar order

1. A man was under gun preassure forced to rape his 9year old daughter or the military of 10 men (some have said it was close to 30 men) would rape her. The dad raped his daughter, the men then beat him and gangraped the daughter untill she died.

2. A man who had hidden muslims from the Serbs out in his cabin in the mountain was one day found by the terrorist. They chained his balls and threw the chain into the wheel of a motorcycle. The cycle went off dragging the man a few meters untill his balls got chopped off by the chains.

3. A man was forced to watch his pregnant wife being gangraped by a group of men. After that they pulled the infant out of her belly, raped the infant and nailed the baby on the wall. The woman died and they cut the dick of the dad, who miraciously survived and brought the men into court.

4. In different towns, villages, mens and womens head was put on poles by the bridges to the town, to show that this city/village has been " cleansed " .

5. Atleast one case where the military forced a dad to rape his son.

6. Not sure if this is only an urban legend or some nasty propaganda created towards the enemy.
But some say that the terrorist did find a group of kids, 2 of them was brutally killed.
One with a chainsaw, which they then started after they had forced it inside the girls pussy.

Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991)

Polismannen Chris Kenner (Dolph Lundgren) blev föräldralös som barn när hans föräldrar mördades. Nu är han på jakt efter en hänsynslös Yakuza-ledare vid namn Yoshida, som etablerat ett japanskt område i Los Angeles och driver en narkotikaverksamhet maskerad som ett bryggeri. Han tvingas dock samarbeta med en japansk-amerikansk polisman (Brandon Lee) samt skydda en kvinna (Tia Carrere) som skall vittna mot Yoshida.

Typisk old school-action med de vanliga klichéerna och en salig blandning asiater som spelar japaner.

Betyget blir 5/10 eller en stark 2/5 på Filmtipset.

Såg precis den hypade Eyes Wide Shut. Har sett den tidigare i delar när jag var ung, men kommer knappt ihåg vad jag tyckte så en omtitt var nödvändig för betyg. Ett betyg som tyvärr inte blir sådär överväldigande positivt.

Tycker vissa scener skavde rejält och det gäller samtliga som involverade Kidman. När hon skulle berätta om sin crush på sjömannen i början av filmen samt när hon berättade om sin dröm om den samme i mitten satt jag och chringade. Allt medan hon lade in tre fyra suckningar i varje mening. Trist. Och Cruise är kanske inte en huvudrollsinnehavare på riktigt det här sättet, utan blev ganska tradig. Väldigt besviken på skådespeleriet och den svala och något konstlade kemin mellan det gamla paret. Och skådespeleriet är för det mesta så dåligt att jag slutade bry mig om karaktärerna. Har sett vissa som lyft fram deras relation eller utmålat filmen som någon form av äktenskapsdrama. Det hade jag ganska svårt att köpa. Det hjälpte inte att typ all dialog i filmen var ganska larvig. Kubrick är en kall regissör när han är som sämst och det märktes här i nästan alla filmens relationer.

Lite utdraget tycker jag också att det blir storymässigt. Till en början var jag ganska investerad, men tappade sedan fokus och intresset när det gått en och en halv timme typ. Den där pianoslingan som de körde var till en början stämningshöjande, men blev snart irriterande och i vägen - vi fattar att det är läskigt och spännande nu liksom. Men trots detta lyckas den ändå vara smått överväldigande atmosfärisk när den gör sig bra. Vissa scener går verkligen hem om man dras med i världen.

Visuellt intressant med alla sina kraftiga färger och fina sets, men kameraarbetet är lite oinspirerat, men jag tycker den aspekten generellt är överskattad hos Kubrick. Överlag ska man kanske ha i åtanke att jag inte är ett särskilt stort Kubrickfan. Filmkonceptet i sig är däremot intressant och jag gillar att tittaren får pussla ihop och lösa lite gåta själv om dröm/verklighet. Men vissa temata som till exempel masken-som-vi-alla-bär kändes lite övertydliga.

Hade det inte varit för vissa små fina Kubrick-touches med set och färgerna så hade jag nog kunnat tro att detta var en alldeles för lång (den är verkligen för lång) giallo-halvporr-B-film. Ångrar dock inte att jag såg den, men det är en två av fem tyvärr.
