Ur The Nation-artikeln:
Citat:
Svoboda is the most visible party on the square, it has essentially taken over Kiev City Hall as its base of operations, and it has a large influence in the protestors’ security forces.
It also has revived three slogans originating in the Ukrainian nationalist movement of the 1930s that have become the most popular chants at Euromaidan.
Ur Wall Street Journal-artikeln:
Citat:
The group at the core of the fight calls itself Right Sector, a coalition of right-wing organizations that are spoiling for a fight. Marta Loza, a 20-year-old student who's helping to coordinate the group's activities, said it is made up of right-wing activists, soccer fans and others "who want to take part in a fight for Ukraine in more radical ways."
She says scores of people have answered a call on social networks to join the ranks.

Late Tuesday, an opposition city council member said he was organizing a column of cars to go and "catch titushki."
"We don't have to organize too much," said the councilor, Andriy Stranikov. "People are doing it themselves."
Ur Kiyv Post-artikeln:
Citat:
Yarosh [en högerradikal aktivist] says Ukraine has been occupied by criminals and oligarchy, and has to be freed from it. A truly independent, free welfare state has to replace it. “The main thing is to get rid of the regime, and what state to build in its stead people will figure out,” Yarosh says.
The top goal is resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych.
“We’re not dropping this demand,” he says.

The Right Sector militants did not appear from nowhere, although many media and liberal protesters preferred to ignore their existence. They were active participants in the protest from the very beginning, interested not so much in European association as the "national revolution". They efficiently infiltrated the volunteer guards of the tent camps.
On 1 December, they were the main force behind the violent attack near the presidential administration, contrary to the popular version that blamed government provocateurs. When, last Sunday, Vitali Klitchko, the most probable next president of Ukraine according to the polls, tried to stop clashes with police, he was booed. Many protesters, who could not imagine themselves throwing stones and molotovs at the police line before, joined the violence of the extreme right, frustrated at the lack of progress after coming each Sunday to listen to the same talks from opposition leaders.
Yet those who may be thrilled with the illusion of an all-national revolt are forgetting that this is another step in the normalisation of the far right. Right Sector has already efficiently mainstreamed its slogans ("Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!", "Glory to the nation! Death to enemies!", "Ukraine above everything!").

Local police and army units might also defect from government control, a scenario that Mr Yanukovych already seems to be worried about, having dismissed the commander of the Ukrainian ground forces four days ago amid doubts about his loyalty. Russia could theoretically send in troops to back him up, but that would only happen as an absolute last resort, given the likelihood that it would simply make things worse.
"Mr Yanukovych could well lose authority in western Ukraine and even in Kiev itself," said Andrew Wilson, of the European Council on Foreign Relations. "It's really not clear if he can put these new laws into practice, and clearly the opposition will be contesting it – already some people are also talking about non-peaceful forms of resistance."
Already such resistance has included targeting regime figures' homes, and flying drones over ministers' houses to show how they live in the lap of luxury, as well as petty acts of sabotage. How much it escalates is open to question, although Mr Yanukovych's habit of deploying plain clothes thugs as agents provocateurs is unlikely to help.
