Steve Thomas:
BILL BICKEL
Okay, first question, folks?
BILL BICKEL
Is it your opinion that Burke was asleep when JonBenet was killed?
STEVE THOMAS
I certainly do not know anything to lead me to believe that Burke was present or aware that his sister was being
assaulted/killed
BILL BICKEL
What first made you decide that Patsy was the likely killer?
STEVE THOMAS
Regarding Patsy — as we all know, the closest thing to the smoking gun in this case is the bogus ransom note, pen,
pad, handwriting — all of which point not only inside the house, but at the mother in this case. as handwriting, QD, and
textual analysis evidence came back, not to mention ink analysis, the tear comparisons, etc, it became clearer to me
we were looking inside the house . . .
BILL BICKEL
How could Patsy have carried a urine-soaked child down the stairs without getting any on her own clothing?
STEVE THOMAS
What’s is to say she didn’t, one? What is to say she didn’t clean the child in the bathroom, two, and carry a dead child
downstairs? All hypothesis on my part, but how would the cops have known even had she gotten urine on her in the
process?
BILL BICKEL
What do you think about the Ramseys’ refusal to take a polygraph test?
STEVE THOMAS
I think their reluctance to now take a poly, after their public
declaration, is very telling, IMHO
BILL BICKEL
Do you think there was any significance to the ransom note being left on the back staircase, the one Patsy takes
every morning? How could an intruder possibly know that?
STEVE THOMAS
good thought — how WOULD an Intruder know that? The RN was so patently bogus on its face, and I feel so was
the placement . . .
BILL BICKEL
Isn’t the fact that Alex Hunter owns property with the Ramseys’ lawyers a conflict of interest?
STEVE THOMAS
Great question — as I say in the book, Alex Hunter should have undoubtedly recused himself from this case, not just
for having joint business interests Ramsey attorneys, but for a number of other things.
BILL BICKEL
The garrote cord was fastened to the paint brush handle in a very meticulous fashion. Would either Ramsey pause to
do such a thing if they were about to strangle JonBenet to death?
STEVE THOMAS
I have heard john Ramsey talk about this very elaborate killing tool. in fact, i disagree. There was nothing that i saw
that was elaborate about it. a broken paintbrush handle (Patsy’s) with some cord wrapped around it, does not equate
to an “elaborate” killing tool to me. In fact, I found it quite elementary.
BILL BICKEL
If you saw evidence that Patsy didn’t do it, who would you look at next?
STEVE THOMAS
Rhetorical question. I see evidence that she is involved.
