My Football Comes From The Ghetto - Ibrahimovic
Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he learned to play football in the Ghetto and that’s the reason behind his greatness. The hit-man also spoke about Mourinho and his treble ambition this term...
The Sweden international has been outstanding for Inter and his goals last term helped fire them to their third straight Scudetto. Ibra has started in much the same way this season and he has revealed his Ghetto background.
“I was born in Malmo and everyone used to call the area I came from the ‘Ghetto’,” Ibrahimovic told La Stampa.
“Playing in the Ghetto is good if you have talent but sometimes it’s not enough, you have to raise your voice, use your elbows.
“Have I got a bad character? I don’t know, some people don’t have character.
“My football is my own free style it comes from the streets and Ghetto’s where I used to play when I was young but, of course, I have to play in the way the coach wants me to here.”
The Inter star spoke about his past and present coaches and he believes he is at his best under Mourinho.
“[Fabio] Capello welcomed me to Juve and I remember the training sessions he used to make me shoot from everywhere against [Gianluigi] Buffon,” added the hit-man.
“[Roberto] Mancini? He just wanted me to play in one position may be he used to see himself in me.
“I am back under Mourinho. He seems more complete than the others. He has his own styles and he makes it feel so special. He likes tactics without being a slave.
“We have a team capable of challenging for everything. We are aiming for a treble, the Scudetto, Champions League and Coppa Italia.”
Ibra will be hoping to continue his good form and play more ‘ghetto football’ when the Nerazzurri visit Torino on Sunday afternoon.
