Mr Al Hilli is thought to have lived in the UK since at least 2002 and the grandmother had a Swedish passport, according to French officials.
He is also believed to have been the secretary of a Wiltshire-based aerial photography company, AMS 1087, since 2007.
A member of staff at the firm told MailOnline they could not comment on the tragedy.
The director of AMS 1087, Surrey businessman James Barnett, also did not wish to comment when asked about Mr Al-Hilli.
No-one at an address linked to the business, believed to be its accountancy firm, on the edge of Swindon, Wilts., was available to comment on the deaths yesterday.

George Aicolina said: 'They were a very close, very loving family. The home used to belong to Saad's parents. His mother died ten years ago while his father passed away last year.
'He was a bright kid, which is so sad to see him go. He loved his kids so much. He was an engineer, a very good one. He used to work for a satellite engineer company in Guildford.'
'They are very charming girls the both of them. They go to the local primary school. The mum used to be a dentist in the Middle East and she was training to become one here.
'She was basically a housewife, but she was training to get qualified. He met her in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. He went there on holiday and he met her there. It was a great love affair.'
Speaking of Mr Al-Hilli's daughters Mr Aicolina said: 'They're stunning little girls - they have very lovely eyes. And have eyes like a deer's eyes.
'He was very good at DIY, he's a freelance worker. I don't know exactly what he did. I knew he was very clued up. Everytime I had a problem, I would go to him. He was a very clued up person and a precise man. I would say he would've studied here.'
When asked if he thought anyone would have tried to hurt the family he replied: 'It doesn't add up. They wouldn't have had any enemies. He's not Mr tinker, tailor, soldier, spy. I doubt the establishment wanted to get rid of him.
'They were a very happy, caring family. They were very caring, quietish people but I think in love. They were very Middle Eastern, I mean family orientated, but also Western. Very modern - they all spoke English at home.'
The family moved to Surrey after 'his parents were forced to leave Iraq by the Sadaam regime', Mr Aicolina claimed.

A family friend, known only as James, said he also wanted to dispel any rumours that the tragedy was related to Mr Al-Hilli's work.
He said: 'It was very civilian, you don't need security clearance to work on satellites.
'He worked for a company that made satellites. He would talk openly about his work, I knew where he worked but he didn't discuss what he did exactly. He was a freelance designer.'
Although he worked on a freelance basis, Mr Al-Hilli carried out a lot of work for Guildford-based Surrey Satellite Technology.
According to neighbours, Mr Al Hilli was a loving father and 'bright engineer' who would not have had any enemies.

Jack Saltman, whose house backs on to the family home in Claygate, said Mr al-Hilli had said something to him before he went on holiday that he would be informing the police about.
Speaking to Sam Walker on the Richard Bacon Show on Radio 5 Live, he said: 'I know one little thing which I am not prepared to speak (about) at the moment. I will tell the police about it.
'It was something Saad said to me before he went but at this stage I do not feel I can disclose that but I will tell the police exactly what he told me before he left.'
