Det finns ingen bättre boxningsskribent just nu än Breadman, sjukt kunnig och alltid med svar på tal. Kolla hur han mosade denna insändare som trodde att han hade bra argument (insändaren först, Breadman i fetstil):
Some of your opinions are a bit twisted and perhaps lack common sense . For instant it is your opinion, that the older fighter Floyd Mayweather (age 34-35) is waiting for the younger fighter Manny Pacquiao (32-33) to slip. Common sense in the boxing world says that is a laughable opinion at best. However I see where you are coming from considering the style of both fighters, Pacquiao is expected to burn out quicker for his style. If that is so, I guess my first question to you is, when is/was Mayweather's prime? is it behind us, or coming ahead, because with his style and his healthy habits, we can count on him being here 10 years from now like a Bernard Hopkins, doing the same thing Erik Morales just did to a young hungry fighter. Consider also before answering the question that he has been on top for over 10 years and has been a pro for 15 years and his last two fights were domination of number 3 and number 2 pound for pound fighters of the world after a two year layoff. I also want to expand on Mayweather’s all time great status by challenging the opinion that Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, and Roberto Duran all beat Mayweather, because that is not a true statement. In fact I am sure that all three fighters will be a sitting duck for Mayweather at 130lbs. Yes 130lbs, that was Mayweathers natural and most effective weight and the division where he made his bones. The problem is that everybody forgets that Mayweather is an all time great 130lb fighter, but nobody really knew him then, when he was supposed to be making a name for himself. I wonder why nobody bothers to do a mythical fight matchup with Mayweather at junior lightweight, because he will most likely come out on top, that is why he is an all time great junior lightweight and perhaps lightweight. Who did Sugar Ray fight at Light heavy(no disrespect to sugar)? You mentioned it Lalonde, but were there no other better champions he could have fought? or at least fight Lalonde at 175lbs limit. Does anybody consider Sugar Ray an all time middleweight or light heavyweight? No. Does anybody do a mythical matchup with Sugar Ray and other great middleweights or super middleweight or light heavyweight to enhance his all time great status? Not that I can think of because he will be considered too small. So who wins between your beloved Prime Sugar Ray and a Prime Roy Jones or say a Prime Sugar Ray and a Prime Bob Foster or Michael Spinks or even a prime Haggler. Nobody thinks that, because Sugar Ray was a true Welterweight and that is the bulk of his all time great status even though he had a great win at middleweight and super middleweight/light heavyweight, nobody considers him great at those weights. So why is Mayweather mytically matched against great welterweights to define his all time great status? My point here is to educate a lot of these new fans who are biased towards Floyd Mayweather and actually thinks that he has always been a welterweight all his life. What Mayweather is doing is no different from what Sugar Ray was doing at his time. A fighter has three stages of their career after they turn professional, they fight developmental fights, they challenge for the title and defend it against the best in their division and maybe a division or two above while making a name for themselves, then they have their senior tour when they pick and choose and fight for the money. Floyd is clearly on his senior tour and rightly so, just like your idol Sugar Ray did after taking on all comers at welterweight although he dodged the Hawk, a junior welterweight. He waited and baited Marvin Hagler till he got old and slipped before he fought him, but still gets all the credit for the win. Where are all the monsters that Sugar Ray fought and beat past welterweight? Yet he is an all time great. Folks let put these things in perspective.
I guess my whole point is, when some of these new fans pose these questions for you about Mayweather and the welterweights, don’t just tell them that era’s are different, they are, but also remind them that Mayweather did his thing at junior lightweight a long time ago and should be mytically matched accordingly. Imagine if Mayweather was as known now before he fought Hernandez, Manfredy, Corrales, and Jesus Chavez considering their status in the sports at that time and he was only 21-23 years old. How do you think they would view Mayweather? I know! That is why he is my CHAMPION. I remember when Money moved up to junior welterweight after the Ndou massacre and before the Chop Chop masterpiece, nobody wanted to fight him and he was labeled the most feared man in boxing. Upon request, I will search for articles to that effect but I am sure you already know or can Google them. Also Mayweather never fought anybody after Pacquiao beat them. It has always been the other way around.

Bread’s Response: William you started your comment off with a contradiction. If you understand where I am coming from with my beliefs, then why are they so laughable. Let me shut you down on this real quick. Manny has like 16 more fights than Floyd. He is smaller, he has taken more punishment. He has major scar tissue over one of his eyes. He also fights more often these days. Last but not least he fights in a style that accelerates a fast decline. Smaller high energy fighters fall off the cliff fast. Joe Frazier, Aaron Pryor, Mike Tyson, Tony Canzoneri and Henry Armstrong to name a few. Floyd knows boxing my man. So the next time somebody laughs at something that I say, they better think twice. I make sense.
Your next few paragraphs were beyond ridiculous. You guys keep bringing up Ray Leonard not fighting Aaron Pryor. One time I had a fan suggest that Ray would never offer Pryor a fight. It’s a shame that I have to keep doing this but I directed him to youtube and Aaron Pryor admitted that Ray offered him a fight. Pryor turned it down in early 1981. You guys just don’t know any better, so you have to come up with BS, to justify Floyd’s angling. How can you duck a man who is NOT in your division when you fight the best fighters in your division? It’s impossible. Ray tried to sneak Pryor in his busy schedule after he got his title back in Novemebr of 1980. Pryor didn’t take the fight so Ray took the stay busy fight against Larry Bonds. Look it up.He then took on Ayube Kalule an undefeated 154lb champion in a double feature with Hearns on the card. How stupid would Ray have looked if he went back to Pryor with a 32-0 guy in own division.? Ray fought one more time at 147 after that against Bruce Finch, his career at that weight was over. So please, shut up about the ducking Aaron Pryor shit. It’s a lie. Pryor was champion for 4 months and Ray offered him 500k to fight. Pryor had never had a 6 figure payday before that and he did not become a star until 2 years later against Arguello. Learn your facts before you start rambling crap you have read but don’t know. How stupid would it look for 30 years from now, someone suggesting that Manny ducked Timothy Bradley? It would look ridiculous, if Manny keeps fighting the best guys in his own division.
I’m sure you probably e-mailed your friends and gloated like you got me on this one, but no no no. Floyd is not being unfairly compared to welterweights. It’s a testament to his greagtness. I for one stated last week he could be the best junior lightweight ever. But he moved up to 147 when he was 28 years old in 2005. He was in his prime and he was still giving prime performances. Floyd was not ranked number 1 p4p in the world when he was at 130 and 135. He took that claim over after Bernard Hopkin lost to Jermaine Taylor in 2005. So why is it unreasonable to compare him to welterweights when he has been in this division for 6 years and here is where he made his bones. Leonard was a shot fighter at 168. Floyd is not at 147. Are you happy? Floyd could have established himself as an all time great welterweight if he would have fought, Williams, Margaritio, Cotto and now Pacquiao. He would be the favorite in each of those fights. His legacy was well within reach my man. Leonard was at 147 from 1977-82. Hearns from 1977-81. Duran from 1978-80. Hearns is the only fighter who is a lot bigger than Floyd. But if Ray and Duran can fight him, we can hypothesize what would happen if Floyd fought him. Boxing has weight divisions and not height divisions. Chavez gets compared to all time greats from 130-140. hearns does from 147-160. Jones from 160 to cruiser. So why can't Floyd from 130-147. It should be taken as a compliment not unfair treatment.
The only reason you sent me that long email, is because Floyd keeps finding reasons to not fight Manny. Leonard my boxing idol would not embarrass me like this. He would have knocked Manny out twice by now. Speaking of the senior tour, yes Ray was on it. But he still took on an in his prime killer at 154 in Terry Norris. You forgot that. He got his ass beat for it but he had the cojones to do it. Ray Leonard fought 5 fighters, who were better than anybody Floyd has ever fought. Benitez, Duran, Hearns, Hagler and Norris. You have to be kidding me with the comparisons. Floyd says he is better than Ali, Robinson and Leonard. But yet this little Filipino guy seems to shake him up. Ali fought much more intimidating fighters, so did Robinson [who moved up to light heavyweight and took on the world champion]. And so did Leonard. Floyd puts his name in that category but yet he won’t put his ass in the ring and to prove it. Floyd still remains the only fighter in history to turn down 50 million. I know it stings but it’s the truth.
