Att man bara skulle använda tio procent av sin hjärna är en väl spridd myt. Det finns inga som helst trovärdiga argument att 90% av hjärnan skulle ligga oanvänd, alternativt att man bara använder 90% av hjärnans kapacitet. Visst när du gör något (lyssnar, tittar, jobbar mm) så aktiveras den delen av hjärnan som du behöver för denna aktivitet, medan resten av hjärnan har en mycket lägre aktivitet. Dock används HELA hjärnan under loppet av en dag. Detta är lätt att mäta med datortomografi.
