Wael Ghonim, a Google executive detained then released for his part in the uprising that overthrew President Hosni Mubarak, said members of the military council had told him a referendum would be held on constitutional amendments in two months.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafik had told him that he would reshuffle his cabinet in the coming week to bring opposition figures into the line-up appointed by Mubarak last month."

Det går ju till synes med svindlande hastighet i Egypten.

Ja det är egentligen det överlägset klokaste av militären att få saker ur händerna och därmed säkra folkligt stöd och sin egen position i framtiden. Visa tydligt att man inte tänker ta över makten utan att istället arbeta för att få till en ordentlig vald regering. Militären har ju egentligen ingen anledning att sitta i styrande position själva utan mandat, det skulle kosta mycket mer än det smakar, som Mubarak tydligt visat.

I synnerhet när militären i ett sådant läge skulle riskera att splittras när det bevisligen finns stort stöd bland demonstranterna i de egna leden.

Det är säkert möjligt att det är som RF påstår, och det är ju i så fall väldigt intressant även för den framtida utvecklingen i Egypten. Men vad har RF för stöd för det? Jag tycker det verkar som om han tar sig litterära friheter.

Stämmer bra...Jag läste detta på Ha'aretz som brukar vara en pålitlig källa. Frågan är om det är sant eller så är det bara spekulationer det handlar om.
