Johan Wiktorin, säkerhetsexpert med bakgrund inom den militära underrättelsetjänsten, förklarar varför han tror att Ryssland utför sabotage i Östersjön.

Ryssland har en annan syn på säkerhet
– Ekonomin är ju nästan kaputt. Ryssland hänger ekonomiskt på repet. Nu får de stöd från Nordkorea och Kina. De väntar ju på vad som ska hända när det blir en ny president i Vita huset. Det är en massa samverkande faktorer här, säger han.

På vilket sätt hjälper sabotagen Ryssland?
– De har ett annat sätt att se på säkerhet. Om vi är osäkrare så är Ryssland säkrare. De har ett helt annat perspektiv på vad säkerhet är. Om vi blir skadade, Finland, Estland, Sverige och så vidare, så blir Ryssland säkrare.

Ukraine's General Staff reported that this combat operation "significantly" reduced the enemy’s capability to conduct air strikes against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukraine will not renew a gas transit agreement with Russian energy giant Gazprom when it expires at the end of the year.

Ahead of the announcement, four EU countries particularly dependent on Russian gas—Austria, Hungary, Italy and Slovakia—called for the agreement to be extended.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has received its first shipment of liquefied natural gas from the U.S., as the war-torn country joins broader European efforts to fully wean themselves off Russian fossil fuels.
