- That does not conclude the APU itself runs hotter. It may as well prove that the cooling solution is better at extracting heat from the APU to the outside, if the exhausted air is hotter while the actual loudness level stays the same. Without an actual thermal probe measurement at the APU die, this is pure speculation and proves nothing.

Basically, thermal camera pictures of exhaust ports aren’t accurate. There’s a reason they took the console apart to place their own temperature sensors - exhaust temperatures aren’t an accurate measure of cooling performance

In short, it draws the exact same amount of power, has a lower noise level thanks to the fan having more and larger fins, and they explain the heat exhaust means absolutely nothing when referring to the thermals and that if the system was running hotter then the fan would spin up harder which it didn't.

This is pretty much the same max power draw as my launch PS5, strongly suggesting that the main processor has not been changed, but crucially, the acoustics of the new console have not adjusted at all to any noticeable degree in the hours that the scene has been running the processor flat out. Whether the machine is hotter or not is still to be tested, but logic suggests that if the new cooling assembly was not up to the task, the fan would be increasing in speed and volume to expel the build-up of heat. This does not seem to be happening - and hours on, the power draw is still consistent too.
