Vi som stödjer FHM:s linje varnade för riskerna och bristerna med vaccin redan i mars. Vi varnade för hösten redan i mars. Det är kända vetenskapliga fakta, som var helt avgörande för Sveriges val av strategi. Och då förnekades det här stenhårt från debattörerna i tråden, eftersom det talade starkt emot att göra lockdowns i det skedet.
But this is the duality of the thread. While you believe that due to the seasonality of the virus, we should wait until after summer to lock down — which is not something that sounds illogical on paper – I believe we should have looked into lockdowns in the spring as well.
I think locking down Stockholm and Göteborg would have saved a lot of those 6000+ lives, without affecting the every day life of Sweden as a whole. National lockdown would not have been required if regional lockdowns would have been considered. I remember a period of time in April where it seemed almost a given that Stockholm was going to lockdown, and then it didn’t. I wish they had.
My point being that I don’t think there’ll be an autumn/winter/spring lockdown regardless, at the same time I don’t think there’s enough people infected to slow down the virus from obtaining exponential growth in these months. I think no matter what strategy picked, the country would have been fatigued by this point like it already is. It’s going to be very hard to convince the people it’s time to stay vigilant again with social distancing and limiting travel and shopping trips as summer comes to a close.
