Iran protesterar också mot att terrorgrupper skall delta i samtalen, liksom folk från oppositionen. Att ha med Saudistödda Jeish al-Islam kommer inte att leda till något konstruktivt, men USA stödjer Saudis krav på deras deltagande.
“Iran: Masked Terrorists Shouldn’t Participate in Syria Meeting”
“TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian blasted Saudi Arabia for its attempts to disguise terrorists as dissidents to include them in the Geneva meeting on Syria.
"The Saudi stubbornness to facilitate the participation of certain terrorists under the guise of dissidents in Syria talks is counter-productive,” Amir Abdollahian said in a Monday meeting in Tehran with United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Sigrid Kaag.
"These terrorists have committed crimes. They cannot be allowed to take part in the talks behind a new mask. This goes against what the people of Syria want,” he added.
Amir Abdollahian stressed that Tehran is doing everything it can to get everyone on board to resolve the crisis diplomatically.
His remarks came after Saudi Arabia introduced Mohammed Mustafa Aloush, the politburo chief of Jeish al-Islam terrorist group, as an opposition activist to attend the Geneva-II. Mohammed Mustafa is the cousin of Jeish al-Islam commander Zahran Aloush who was recently killed by Syrian forces.
A Syrian opposition activist warned on Saturday that Saudi Arabia had sent out invitations to various terrorist groups in a bid to derail the upcoming Geneva-II diplomatic negotiations.”
