In response to the comment that the Nuclear Safety Commission of Japan has
started using the word “meltdown,” but TEPCO has not)
We do not have enough
information to either confirm or deny this. (March 28 press conference)"

TEPCO, Japanese government denying Fukushima radiation reaching ocean fish

(Japan Daily News) "In what must the most dumbfounding state of denial seen in modern times, both the Japanese government and utility Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) are disputing the recent study that showed radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant is leaking into the ocean. 18 months after the March 2011 nuclear disaster, the U.S.’s Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, a respected research group, reported that 40% of the fish caught off the coast of Fukushima were still testing positive for radioactive contamination above the government’s safety own limits."

"The company also claims that within a couple of days of the disaster it had dispatched workers to a village near the plant to warn them about the radiation. However the mayor of the now abandoned village has told AM TEPCO's claim is a lie, saying no-one from the company ever showed up."
