Rapporterna gav detaljer:

The report included details about the gas chambers, about "selection," and about the sterilization experiments. It stated that there were three crematoria in Birkenau able to burn 10,000 people daily, and that 30,000 people had been gassed in one day. The author wrote: "History knows no parallel of such destruction of human life." Raul Hilberg writes that the report was filed away with a note that there was no indication as to the reliability of the source.[206] When Pilecki returned to Poland after the war the communist authorities arrested and accused him of spying for the Polish government in exile. He was sentenced to death in a show trial and was executed on May 25, 1948.

Han blev inte trodd, trots detaljerna?
Citat:
(Pilecki wrote: "During the first 3 years, at Auschwitz there perished 2 million people; in the next 2 years—3 million").

Citat:
Within a few months of the "Wannsee Conference" in
January 1942, where the method by which the Jews of Europe were to be murdered was discussed and agreed ("Final Solution of the Jewish Question"), Auschwitz became one of the main camps to which Jews were to be sent for extermination. The first known transport, composed entirely of Jews, arrived
the very next month, and such transports continued to arrive from all over occupied Europe until November 1944.

Citat:
The name Auschwitz, too, came to his attention as early as March 1942: "In these days I heard named as the most terrible concentration camp Auschwitz (or something like that) near Koenigshuette in Upper Silesia. Mining work, death after only a few days..." (II, p. 47). Later he notes again that Auschwitz seems to be a "busy charnel house" (II, p. 259).

Ett flitigt
bårhus,
mord via gruvarbete, men ännu inga uppgifter om gaskamrar?
Citat:
The gas chamber was put into operation in autumn 1941.

Citat:
In April 1947, he began collecting evidence on Soviet atrocities and on the prosecution of Poles (mostly members of the Home Army and the 2nd Polish Corps) and their executions or imprisonment in Soviet gulags.[4]

Ryssarna tog hans spionverksamhet på allvar, i alla fall…
