Ubuntu 7.10 hittar inte mitt grafikkort

När jag installerade ubuntu från livecdn verkade allt gå bra tills en ruta dök upp där det stod att den inte hittade grafikkortet. Jag testade att konfigurera själv, fortsätta och avbryta men inget hjälpte. Då installerade jag i graphics safe mode och det funkade finfint.

Jag installerade drivrutinerna till mitt nvidia geforce 8800gt från nvidias hemsida och märkte att det i xorg.conf står som följer:

Det borde ju stå NVIDIA corporation geforce 8800gt eller nåt som det gör i all hjälp jag kollat i.

Vad ska jag göra?

Om det fungerar så spelar det ju mindre roll vad det står i xorg.conf? Vad säger lspci?

Identifier är just vad det låter som. Ett namn som hjälper dig att identifiera vad för device som körs. Det viktiga i den sektionen är Driver raden, där det redan står att du använder nvidia-drivern.

(På en av mina burkar har jag t.ex. en skärm som heter "BAJSBÖG" och ett grafikkort som heter "HORHUS"

)

Känns inte på topp. Går inte att ha några visuella effekter heller märkte jag just. "Desktop effects could not be enabled". Det finns inte heller någon "module"-sektion i xorg märkte jag. Är helt ny till Linux, har bara haft det i någen timme nu. Vore tacksam för hjälp.

Nu har det cpat ur ännu mer. När jag startade om datorn kom det där "hittar inte grafikkortet"-felmeddelandet upp igen och nu är det low graphics mode igen. Vafan!

Posta din /var/log/Xorg.0.log någonstans, så att vi kan titta på den.

Sen skulle jag gärna vilja se output:en från glxinfo.

Nu blev det här intressant. Jag VET att kortet har varit oidentifierat på mitt system en lång tid. Nu när jag kollar runt så är det korrekt överallt.

Men identifiern ska inte spela någon roll. Jag tror det är något annat fel
