Citat:
Actual installation was due to financial reasons since the 11th ship's request (SS-511), which was requested roughly in FY2005 plan. For installation, a method of replacing only the lead storage battery with a lithium battery and a method of replacing both the Stirling AIP system and the lead storage battery with a lithium battery are more expensive than the former, but since the latter is higher output, It was expected that continuous navigation underwater at higher speed than AIP latent would be possible. After that, in order to improve sustainability in the underwater, we decided to install a lithium battery after discontinuing both Stirling AIP and lead storage battery.
Citat:
It has been redesigned to eliminate the conventional Stirling engine and lead storage battery and to install a lithium ion secondary battery (manufactured by GS Yuasa).
