So I am soon 20. I only have about 25K sek saved up. My parents are middle eastern. We never got along, always fight and they judge me a lot and are quite negative. Also, they live 2h away from city in country side and its too much time waste in public transport.

So even with the little money i have saved up, I decided to move out in June and have been renting now at a pretty sweet price in the city center. I am paying 3000/sek month for a room. 1 month notice and 3k deposit. I am looking for a job but still haven't found. I will start some part time komvux courses in august and will study full time at uni in the city starting august 2022 (so in 1+ year).

Ive been loving living here in the city. I feel independent and i dont have negative energy around me. I met my parents today for coffee and it went well. I guess distance makes the heart grow fonder, as they say.

Anyways. I need advice and guidance. Is this a waste of money? Should I go back home and save up? Or should I just go with the flow and try to manage here in the city?

You should go back and save up some more money, do it for a year or two and then you can buy your own apartment instead of renting a shitty room.

Buying my own apartment in the city... that is at least 2 million sek. takes definitely more than 2 years to save up for that...

Of course you are not going to save up that much. You ever heard of a bank? they usually give loans if you have some saved up money.

3000k (rent) + 3000 (food) + 1000 (transport) = 7000kr

In twelve months thats 84000kr, im not event counting the costs for a social life either now in the city. This is counting low.

My advice is to stay with your parents for 1-2 more year, keep working and saving, get a loan and buy your own place.

Good luck.

For that price it is much better to live in the city. 3k is nothing and when you get a job or csn you will be good.

Just have a plan to save up cash cuz renting the rest of ur life is goona suck if u miss out on getting an apartment.,

You did the right thing, take control of your life and make a living out of it, you are not your parents! Keep saving, every 1000 is your own!

All in on getting a job. Livinga decent life is easily 5000 kr per month plus rent. You can probably get it down to 3000 but thats the limit more or less.

Don't go back home, full focus on getting a at leaat parttime job.

Don't listen to the guys saying you should save and buy, you are very far from a bank loan so thats not a option for you. Plus 3k in rent is not bad. The freedom of living on your own is worth a few sacrifices.

Psychic well-being is a prerequisite for financial well-being.

Swedes are unfortunately seldomly in touch with their emotions and would rather live in negative energy and eat antidepressants than change the environment.

I agree. You should stay in the city renting your room if you can, but it is dependent on you finding an income...
