Nya uppgifter om Estonia - hål midskepps. (2020-09-24)

YT-kanalen Estoniakatastrofen har gett sig på ett seriöst försök att hitta Carl Bilds påstådda tidiga uttalande om att bogvisiret var orsaken till förlisningen.
...så här långt verkar det röra sig om en skröna...

Ja, vi diskuterade detta i gamla tråden för ett tag sedan. Redan en snabb koll av klockslag visade att Treu m.fl. redan före lunch 28/9 hade berättat i förhör och intervjuer om att vatten kom in på bildäck, och att de trodde bogvisiret hade lossnat (en helt självklar slutsats med tanke på mängden vatten de såg). Det som inte är känt är exakt vem som sade vad till vem under eftermiddagen i Åbo, men det betyder givetvis inte att Bildt hade förkunskap om olycksorsaken.

’Estoniakanalen’ går förtjänstfullt på djupet och förklarar vad Estlands och Finlands ledare sade vid samma tid, vilket borde sopa bort alla rimliga frågetecken.

22 maj inleds 3D laser skanning av Estonia.
Beräknas ta 4 - 5 dagar med arbete dygnet runt.

Uppdelat i fyra steg:

Jag fattar inte riktigt det där med laser-scanning på bildäck. Anledningen till att man väntade till våren var så vitt jag förstår att det är bättre sikt då, men inne på bildäck blir det väl kass redan av det sediment som ROVn river upp? En annan fråga är hur man vet läget in e på bildäck; man kan alltid passa ihop olika bilder till en sammanhängande men någonstans måste man också få in en längdskala. Kanske vi skall förvänta oss något förvrängda bilder som vi sett från utsidan, snarare än de VR-filmer vi blivit vana vid.

Sedan kan man ju knappast scanna hela bildäck med tanke på alla fordon som ligger huller om buller. Man beskriver detta som ”highly complex”, vilket låter som en underdrift:

“The first order of business is to survey the car deck, so as to obtain as detailed an overview as possible of the condition of the car deck and the objects present there. The car deck survey is highly complex in terms of technical aspects. The objective is to get the clearest possible picture of the state of the car deck, including deformations as well as openings, such as doors, vents, engine room hatches, etc., and to determine whether they are closed or open.”

Tekniken har kapacitet för upplösning ned till 0,1 mm men det blir antagligen mer översiktligt än millimeterdetalj på bildäck.

Jag förväntar mig hög kvalitet utan förvrängningar.

16 maj hölls informationsmöte för gruppen överlevare/anhöriga i Estland där huvuddragen för sommarens undersökningar sammanfattades:

First, a 3D laser scanning survey is carried our as part of the main surveys, with the aim of creating a point cloud of the wreck and the landforms in the immediate vicinity of the wreck to obtain detailed information about the wreck and the surrounding landforms. In addition to surveying the wreck from the outside, the car deck will also be surveyed from the inside. The 3D laser scanning survey will take 4-5 working days.

Next, a photogrammetric survey will be conducted in the beginning of June which is expected to take approximately two weeks. Both the 3D laser scanning survey and the photogrammetric survey will be carried out on VOS Sweet, a research vessel flying the Dutch flag.

Third, a ferromagnetic survey will be carried out in the second half of June with the objective of identifying the metal objects present near the wreck and sinking route. It is hoped that fragments of the bow visor lock can be recovered from the seabed to determine when the bow visor lock may have broken. In addition, it is hoped that the bolt of the Atlantic lock can also be recovered.

The fourth survey is connected to the findings of the preliminary assessment, including identifying why the bow ramp of the vessel had separated. If necessary, the bow ramp will be lifted from the seabed to carry out more detailed surveys.

A new detailed model of M/S Estonia will be completed by the end of May, which will be installed on universal joints to allow for changes in the list and trim of the vessel to be simulated. A digital model or “digital twin” of the vessel will be completed by next winter.
