To better understand what a home in Sweden costs, check out
Hemnet. Your budget is too small for cities such as Stockholm or Gothenburg but I'm certain there are many favorable medium or small towns where you can purchase an apartment ("bostadsrtt") or even a house ("villa"). Here's a
map on Hemnet with apartments and villas with a 1M starting price. Obviously, you need to factor in that cheaper housing often means living in an area with fewer work opportunities. You may want to consider renting an apartment and saving for better housing in a better city.
As for coming to Sweden for long-term employment and living, it really depends on factors such as your current employment, citizenship, whether you can find a sponsor for your application, etc. Brexit makes matters more complicated for British citizens. Your best option is to contact the
Swedish Migration Agency for guidance.
