Today’s action targets 14 individuals and entities pursuant to E.O. 13661, which authorizes sanctions on, among others, any individual or entity that is owned or controlled by, or that has supported, an individual or entity previously designated under this E.O. These sanction targets are linked to designated persons Gennady Timchenko, Arkady Rotenberg, Boris Rotenberg, Kalashnikov Concern, and Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod JSC (also known as Baikal), all of whom have engaged in serious and sustained sanctions evasion.

The following eight individuals and entities are owned or controlled by, provide material support to, and/or are acting for or on behalf of, the previously designated Gennady Timchenko and his network: Sven Olsson, Avia Group Terminal Limited Liability Company, Transservice LLC, Lerma Trading, LTS Holding Ltd., Maples S.A., Fentex Properties Ltd. and White Seal Holdings. The following three entities are owned or controlled by the previously designated brothers Arkady and Boris Rotenberg: Volgogradneftemash, Moskovskiy Oblatstnoy Bank, and Investment Republic Bank LLC. Finally, the following three individuals are being designated for acting for or on behalf of the previously designated entities Kalashnikov Concern and Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod JSC (also known as Baikal): Eduard Ioffe, Vakhtang Karamyan, and Tatiana Chernykh.

Ukraine is responding to Moscow's food embargo with "mirror sanctions" of its own that will take effect on January 1, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced Thursday.

"The cabinet of ministers will introduce similar restrictive measures against the Russian Federation. We will protect Ukraine's domestic market," Yatsenyuk said in a speech in parliament.

A bill giving the government the right to impose trade sanctions against Russia was backed by lawmakers Thursday with 291 deputies in favour.

It is a counter-move to Moscow's announcement Monday of a food embargo against Ukraine starting next month over Kiev's trade deal with the EU. The Moscow embargo will extend to Ukraine punitive measures already in place against Western countries.

A free trade deal between Ukraine and the European Union is set to go into effect January 1 as part of a broader agreement that helped spark the current crisis between Kiev and the West on one side, and Moscow on the other.

Enligt säsongsjusterad statistik sjönk Rysslands ekonomi med 0,3 procent i november mot månaden innan, efter att ha expanderat 0,1 procent i föregående månad tack vare en starkare gruv- och jordbrukssektor.

“All the economic miseries are amplified by international sanctions which were brought upon Russia by its foreign policy in Ukraine,” said Nerijus Maciulis, chief economist at Swedbank AB in Vilnius, Lithuania. “And the man who presumably orchestrated them deserves only an F.”
