Interview with a surviving defender of Division 17 base (Ar-Raqqa)
Reporter: Could you introduce yourself please
Solider: Rami Dunya
Reporter: Explain how you are feeling since you arrived and now with your family?
Solider: Really (Wallahi) It's something i can't really express it after two years....
Reporter: How long were you at the division base?
Solider: I stayed at the division exactly 22 months.
Reporter: Could you tell us about the evacuation of the division?
Solider: The evacuation was necessary because the base had been breached and we were divided into two so we were forced to evacuate.
Reporter: Can you tell us ....(mumbles)
Solider: We planned to go on the offensive and they had a plan to assault the base and breach it, they succeeded. they had more firepower than us, so they entered the base and started to expand until we were unable to move around.
Reporter: During your stay in the base did you spend days without food,water,ammo tell us about that and how guys made do.
Solider: We made do, whatever came our way we made it work, like the water cut off last summer so we dug wells and started drinking water that was more like oil than water, we stayed 2 months in those conditions.
Reporter: How many martyrs from the division?
Solider: During the siege period between 300 to 400 martyrs were buried there
Reporter: How many got out of the division?
Solider: I Don't know the exact numbers..around 800, maybe more or less (unsure)
