http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Tribes_communities
Deras egna sida:
http://twelvetribes.com/ (från USA)
Och en sida av en avhoppare:
http://www.twelvetribes-ex.com/
Deras syn på barn uppfostran är helt otrolig enligt avhopparen och det var ju detta som omhändertagandet verkar ha handlat om:
Citat:
From the cradle to the grave you must discipline your children. From the age of 6 months you would start disciplining them with a rod on the palm of their hands and then you would stop when they are about one year old. From there you would discipline the children with a rod on their buttocks until they submit… -Elbert Spriggs (Yoneq)
(Elbert Spriggs är grundaren.)
De verkar leva väldigt tätt tillsammans. Från den egna sidan:
Citat:
We are a Messianic Community, and by “community” we do not mean a town or locality. Nor do we mean a loose association of individuals living near one another. And we surely do not mean a religious organization centered around meeting in a building, otherwise called a church. “Community” as we use the term means those who love one another so greatly that they are of one heart and mind, holding all things as common property, living together, taking their meals together, devoted to one another because they’re devoted to the One who saved them from death and misery.
Och från den egna sidan (FAQ):
Citat:
Q: Do you spank your children?
A: Yes, we do. We love our children and consider them precious and wonderful. Because we love them we do spank them. We teach them to listen to what their parents say and to obey their parents and teachers. When they are disobedient or intentionally hurtful to others we spank them with a small reed-like rod, which only inflicts pain and not damage. Desiring to be good parents, we do not hit our children in anger, nor with our hand or fist. And we know that discipline is ineffective unless our child is ready to receive instruction.
We know that some people consider this aspect of our life controversial, but we have seen from experience that discipline keeps a child from becoming mean-spirited and disrespectful of authority. The Columbine tragedy in particular points to the potentially terrible consequences of children left to themselves, who are not held accountable for their actions.
Suck.
