Trumps tarrifer mot Indien gör redan verkan mot Ryssland

Four tankers carrying Russian oil are currently anchored off India’s west coast amid mounting pressure from the United States and the European Union to stop buying Russian crude, Bloomberg reports.
According to tracking systems, the Achilles and Elyte tankers are anchored near Jamnagar. They are due to unload on August 2 and 3 after picking up cargo in Primorsk and Ust-Luga in late June. Both Aframax tankers, which can carry about 700,000 barrels each, are under EU and British sanctions.
Two other tankers, the Destan and the Horae, are anchored farther off the coast after loading oil between June 24 and July 1. The Destan, which is under EU and UK sanctions, is expected to arrive at the port of Sikka in the coming days. The Horae, whose destination remains unknown, is not under EU, UK, or US sanctions. The tankers’ destinations may still change.
More than a third of India’s oil imports come from Russia. These flows have been widely discussed in recent weeks after the EU introduced new sanctions in July. The administration of US President Donald Trump also cited India’s purchases of Russian oil as a reason for imposing 25% tariffs on the country. Trump has also threatened 100% tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil. As a result, the Indian government has asked refiners to develop plans to source oil elsewhere. According to media reports, India’s state-owned refiners stopped buying Russian oil last week.
