6. Chemistry and Analysis Chemical classification: unclassified Delta-9-THC-methylcarbonate is a semi-synthetic cannabinoid and the methyl carbonate derivative of the internationally controlled delta-9-THC (Schedule I of the 1971 United Nations Single Convention on Psychotropic substances). Delta-9-THC-methylcarbonate is also structurally related to delta-9-THC-O-acetate, formally notified in December 2024, differing by the substitution on the acetyl by a methyl carbonate group attached to the phenol moiety. Delta-9-THC-methylcarbonate is also structurally related to other semi-synthetic cannabinoids monitored by the EUDA, such as delta-8-THC-O-acetate, formally notified in August 2024, and hexahydrocannabinol acetate (HHC acetate), formally notified in December 2022 and under intensive monitoring as of 9 September 2024. The synthesis of delta-9-THC-glycolate (compound ALL00154), an isomer of delta-9-THCmethylcabonate not currently monitored by the EUDA, was described in a 2012 patent on methods of making delta-9-THC prodrugs [1]. The identification and discrimination of isomers can pose analytical challenges due to the fact that these substances have the same molecular weight and may have similar fragmentation patterns. As a result, in addition to GC-MS, other analytical techniques, such as FTIR or NMR, may be required. Delta-9-THC-methylcarbonate has two stereogenic centres therefore four s
