Eeeeeeexcept....you can't, legally. Because we have so many alleged endangered species of damn near everything, clearing brush and undergrowth "destroys natural habitats for the massive list of everything endangered". Yes, disturbing the grassy home of the kangaroo rat, or black nosed mouse, or red legged frog, or salamanders, or Grizzly Bears, or that homeless guy named Bob, will put you in jail for FELONY violations of the ESA.
The wholly moronic environmentalists (mental being the key) will argue that fire, is natural, regardless of how it started. When you try to explain that fire, natural or not, will destroy not only the grassy homes of said species, but will kill the species too, they will not only agree 100% with you, but then tell you you're wrong.
You would have a more intelligent conversation with a cactus. But choose the cactus wisely, many are endangered...
