Lockheed Martin: Our HX offer to Finland includes exactly 64 F-35 multirole fighter aircraft, no number options. Lockheed Martin specifies the information it has previously provided on its final offer for finland's HX project. The company's final bid response (BAFO, best and final offer) applies to exactly 64 F-35A Lightning II multirole fighteres.
Previously, thecompany said that its offer would include a maximum of 64 machines, and that the exact amount could be agreed upon after a possible procurement decision. So that is not the case.
"I was not as aware of the rules of the HX procurement process as I should have been," says Scott Davis,LM's Campaign Director for Finland.
"We offer 64 machines, no less, and there are no other options in our offer response in terms of quantity. Our offer fits into the specified procurement budget and the annual operating and maintenance costs are within the given limits."
The annual cost must fit within the EUR 250 million framework.
DAVIS DID NOT specify what kind of weapons LM provides in connection with the plane. Other HX candidates have also remained silent on this issue.
However, he emphasises that the final offer response includes both a JSM cruise missile manufactured by Kongsbergin Norway and a JASSM-ER cruise missile already listed in the DSCA notification last autumn. The latter is a longer-range version of the JASSM cruise missile integrated into the Finnish Air Force's current Hornet fleet. The JASSM-ER has a 450 kg warhead and has a range of approximately 1,000 km.
Kan minne om at Moskva er rundt 800 km unna den finske grensen til Russland.
