I downloaded the raw election data for Oakland County and plotted the data for both candidates. There is a clear trend. As republicanism increases, Biden's percentage of individual ballots cast begins to outperform his percentage of straight-party ballots cast in a linear function. The inverse holds true for Trump's votes. I have seen other people attempt to plot the Biden votes and fail miserably. They are adding a secondary x-axis and measuring liberalism in addition to republicanism which is redundant since the two are already inversely related (20% Trump means 80% Biden). Biden's performance doesn't also trend downwards. It trends upwards. This chart compares both candidates against republicanism which is the correct way to plot these two datasets.
There is a clear reversal of the expected trend once republicanism reaches around 25%.
I downloaded the data to produce this chart from the following source:

The results are counter-intuitive. If Trump is overperforming in Biden districts and Biden is underperforming in Biden Districts, why would the trend reverse in a linear fashion as districts got more conservative?
