"The report proclaims that “There is no difference in the overall incidence of the laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the age group 1–19 years in the two countries”.
This is the result that has been widely publicized in international media, and it is sometimes cited when policymakers in other countries contemplate whether to open schools in the autumn or keep them closed. However, using reported cases to draw the conclusion that school closures were ineffective is not scientifically sound, as it was extremely difficult for a child to be tested in Sweden during the study period. The conclusion of the report is that the” Closing of schools had no measurable effect on the number of cases of Covid-19 among children”,
which is profoundly misleading."

Sweden`s state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell paused the collection of data because he viewed it as not being important nor advantageous. In fact,
one of the excuses offered by Tegnell for the decision to pause data collection was that there was a certain risk of creating anxiety in a population by asking questions around Covid-19.
