Xi made four proposals concerning the development of China-DPRK relations.

Firstly, continue giving play to the guiding role of high-level exchanges. High-level exchanges have always played the most important guiding and promoting role in the history of China-DPRK relations. Under the new circumstances, I am willing to keep frequent contacts with Comrade Chairman through various forms such as exchange of visits, and sending special envoys and letters to each other.

Secondly, make full play of the time-tested valuable practices of strategic communication. It is the splendid tradition of the two parties to have frequent in-depth exchange of views on major issues. Both sides should maximize the important role of party-to-party exchanges, promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various areas, and strengthen communication and mutual trust.

Thirdly, actively advance peaceful development. Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and the DPRK's socialist construction has also ushered in a new historical period. We are ready to make joint efforts with the DPRK side, conform to the trend of the times, hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit, continuously improve the wellbeing of the two peoples, and make positive contribution to regional peace, stability and development.

Fourthly, cement the popular will foundation for China-DPRK friendship. The two sides should, through various forms, enhance people-to-people exchanges, consolidate the foundation of popular will for bilateral friendly relations, especially enhance youth exchanges, inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of China-DPRK friendship.

Kim said he was greatly encouraged and inspired by General Secretary Xi's important views on DPRK-China friendship and the development of relations between the two parties and countries.

The DPRK-China friendship, which was founded and nurtured by the elder generations of leaders of both countries, is unshakable, he said. It is a strategic choice of the DPRK to pass on and develop friendship with China under the new situation, and it will remain unchanged under any circumstances.

Där får nog Trump svårt att slå in en kil.

Varför anser du att Trump skulle behöva slå in en kil?

Det är väl det han hoppas på - att Kina ska släppa NK.

Det tror jag inte har någon betydelse i den nuvarande situationen.
Mycket tyder på att det ligger lika mycket i Kinas intresse som USAs att Kim-regimen avvecklar sin kärnvapenkapacitet.

Varför i hela fridens namn skulle det göra det? Jag tror tvärtom att Kina gillar läget som det är. Vad Kina vill är att USA drar tillbaka sitt THAAD-försvar från SK.

Det verkar som om du inte till fullo har följt rapporter, diskutioner och analyser under den senaste tiden. Utvecklingen går mycket snabbt nu.

Det är nog inte omöjligt att det blir på det viset.
Om NK avvecklar sina robotar finns det ingen anledning att ha dem kvar.

Eh, det är Kina som är huvudfienden enl. Trump. Hursomhelst så kommer vi att få se följande scenario närmaste tio åren eller något som går i linje med det (och som jag redan vid flertal tillfällen har postat här i tråden);

In sharp contrast to the Trump administration and the Beltway’s bellicose rhetoric, what “RC” proposes are essentially 5+1 talks (North Korea, China, Russia, Japan and South Korea, plus the US) on neutral territory, as confirmed by Russian diplomats. In Vladivostok, Putin went out of his way to defuse military hysteria and warn that stepping beyond sanctions would be an “invitation to the graveyard.” Instead, he proposed business deals.

Largely unreported by Western corporate media, what happened in Vladivostok is really ground-breaking. Moscow and Seoul agreed on a trilateral trade platform, crucially involving Pyongyang, to ultimately invest in connectivity between the whole Korean peninsula and the Russian Far East.

South Korean Prime Minister Moon Jae-in proposed to Moscow to build no less than “nine bridges” of cooperation: “Nine bridges mean the bridges of gas, railways, the Northern Sea Route, shipbuilding, the creation of working groups, agriculture and other types of cooperation.”

Crucially, Moon added that the trilateral cooperation would aim at joint projects in the Russian Far East. He knows that “the development of that area will promote the prosperity of our two countries and will also help change North Korea and create the basis for the implementation of the trilateral agreements.”

Min fråga har dock hela tiden varit var USA skulle komma in i detta. Nu tror jag att Trump kommer att se till att de får vara med på ett hörn.

Allvarligt talat så tror jag, eller hoppas, på en sådan lösning. Koreakonflikten är inte det enda problemet i regionen. Det finns en animositet sedan gammalt mellan folken i regionen som borde få sin lösning. Just nu är Japan passiviserat efter WWII men det kan snabbt ändra på sig. De står inför monumentala problem med befolkningstillväxt och energiförsörjning som de på något sätt måste hantera. Man får hoppas att de inte väljer att återta sin kejserliga roll.

Som sagt, utvecklingen går snabbt och det har hänt väldigt mycket sedan den artikeln publicerades för mer än ett halvår sedan.
