Det där är ju en helt annan typ av glas, som bilrutor och busskurer. De ska gå sönder på det sättet för att minimera skärskador. Dessa hotellfönster är en helt annan teknik och ska skydda från att gå sönder överhuvudtaget. De har även en grad av töjbar flexibilitet för att absorbera stötar eller om någon på typ fyllan skulle ramla in i dem.

"Typical high rise glazing units are made up of two lites (pieces) of glass that are 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick. They are usually separated by a 1/2 inch air space, making for a 1″ thick unit. These are factory made with double seals, and the air inside the units is desiccated (made dry) so that it won’t fog up . in very cold climates, this space may be filled with argon.
The glass itself may be tinted, but these days it is more common for it to have a Low-E (Emissivity) coating on the inside surface of the outside piece of glass. This coating reflects solar heat away from the building to help prevent heat gain. (most occupied buildings spend more money on cooling than heating, except in very cold climates, like ‘Boston and Minneapolis).
In some cases, the glass is made slightly thicker, or if the lites are larger than 5′ x 10′, which is a very typical glazing size.
Before the window units are fabricated, they are engineered and wind stresses are verified. Glass actually is quite strong, especially if it is fully supported on all four sides, as it is in a typical glazing unit.
Now, there are some exceptions:
glass closer to the floor than 18″ must be tempered or laminated by code. Glass that is used as a railing must be tempered or laminated. if the glass is only supported on two sides, it may be engineered to be thicker; or if the glass is longer than 12′, it usually needs to size up."

"It depends on the geographical location. Rarely is architectural glazing tempered AND laminated. It is, in most instances, only tempered. Typical thickness is 6mm (~1/4") with double cladding which means it is doubled up with 10mm's of insulating argon gas in between the two pieces of glass. Depending on the solar requirements the outer ply may have a solar low E coating or it may be a 10mm thick colored pane with a 6mm clear inner. Additionally the location on the building also dictates the type of strengthening for the glass. Low floor levels may only require heat strengthening which is less strong than a full temper.
Higher floor positions require a full temper to avoid breakage which would result in a rain storm of broken glass down below. Hurricane prone areas also require higher strength full temper glazing. In terms of strength the glass must withstand the force of a 2x4 piece of wood of a certain length and speed."
