"Han är inte död, sjuk eller på semester" uppger utvecklarna på CentOS som under lång tid försökt skapa kontakt med projektets grundare. Nu publicerar de ett öppet brev - direkt på hemsidan.
CentOS är en Linuxdistribution som i stort sett är Red Hats Enterprise Server-version fast utan Red Hats varumärken. Idag befinner sig Linuxdistributionen i kris.
I ett öppet brev till utvecklaren och CentOS-grundaren Lance Davis direkt på projektets hemsida framgår det att grundaren undlåtit att delge övriga projektdeltagare vital information.
Utvecklarna i CentOS-projektet vill bland annat veta hur kassan ser ut och de ger även uttryck för oro över att Lance Davis är den ende som har kontroll över CentOS-domänen och IRC-kanalen.
Nu är utvecklarna oroliga över att Lance Davis kan komma döda projektet och vill på det här viset räcka ut en hand - både mot Lance själv och communityn.
Russ Herrold, som är den som författat brevet uppger att han under de senaste två veckorna har försökt nå Lance men utan resultat. I en not till brevet skriver utvecklarna att de är "säkra på att Lance inte är död, sjuk eller på semester".
Åtta utvecklare har skrivit på brevet som avslutas med en antydning om att projektet kan komma flyttas till en annan domän om inte Lance Davis hör av sig. Brevet publiceras idag på

This is an Open Letter to Lance Davis from fellow CentOS Developers
It is regrettable that we are forced to send this letter but we are left with no other options. For some time now we have been attempting to resolve these problems:
You seem to have crawled into a hole ... and this is not acceptable.
You have long promised a statement of CentOS project funds; to this date this has not appeared.
You hold sole control of the centos.org domain with no deputy; this is not proper.
You have, it seems, sole 'Founders' rights in the IRC channels with no deputy ; this is not proper.
When I (Russ) try to call the phone numbers for UK Linux, and for you individually, I get a telco intercept 'Lines are temporarily busy' for the last two weeks. Finally yesterday, a voicemail in your voice picked up, and I left a message urgently requesting a reply. Karanbir also reports calling and leaving messages without your reply.
Please do not kill CentOS through your fear of shared management of the project.
Clearly the project dies if all the developers walk away.
Please contact me, or any other signer of this letter at once, to arrange for the required information to keep the project alive at the 'centos.org' domain.
Inte använt CentOS någon gång med redhat går ju som en klocka. Vad beror detta beteende på? Förverkade unix-skägget personen i fråga till sist?
