EU removes two oligarchs reputedly close to Putin from sanctions list
The sanctions will now be renewable every three years, rather than every six months, as had been the case since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine started in February 2022.
However, two names were missing from the list. European officials decided to remove the oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from their sanctioned persons list. Both are reputedly close to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, though they have consistently denied it. Since the start of the war, both have worked hard to escape these restrictions. Now that their names are off the list, they will be able to access their assets again and should also regain the ability to travel within Europe.

Det känns väldigt kontraproduktivt att föra ett ekonomiskt krig mot Ryssland samtidigt som man släpper in pengar till landet.
Jag vet inte särskilt mycket om dessa två men det man skummat igenom pekar tydligt på att de är väldigt nära Putin och sanktionerna som lyfts för dem kommer hjälpa Ryssland att finansiera kriget i Ukraina.
Hur kommer det sig att EU tar denna handling? EU har utlovat att knäcka den ryska krigsmaskinen med ekonomiska medel, att lyfta sanktionerna på dessa två tycks gå stick i stäv med det.

- Är det EUs mål att hålla kriget vid liv av något skäl?
