Detta var någoting som i alla fall jag inte visste om.
Acus is a customized AI analytics platform used by the Swedish Police Authority. It's a Swedish version of Palantir's Gotham software, deployed for about five years to process sensitive data like criminal records, Bank ID info, telecom data, and social media.
No debate in Parliament. No public procurement. No official comment. Yet for years, the Swedish Police have quietly used an advanced analytical tool called Acus — a Swedish-adapted version of the American intelligence platform Palantir Gotham. This is not merely a story about technology. It is about trust, freedom, and how a democracy learns to accept secrecy as a form of order.
When journalists asked for documentation, the police replied:
“We can neither confirm nor deny any relationship, for reasons of national security.”
That phrase is not simply bureaucratic. It’s psychological. It implies that curiosity is disloyalty, and that questions themselves pose a threat. Democracy does not vanish through confrontation, but through conditioning — when people learn not to ask.
Frågor som jag också tycker ska besvaras:
• What legal basis justifies the use of Acus?
• Where is the data stored — Sweden, the EU, or the U.S.?
• Was a DPIA ever conducted, and what were its findings?
• Has the Data Protection Authority (IMY) been informed or involved?
• Has Parliament been briefed?
• Are ordinary citizens being profiled without knowing it?
And most crucially: if this has been ongoing for five years already — what comes next?
Facial recognition in real time? Automated risk scores for every citizen? Or a generation of systems that no longer need human interpretation?
