Det står ingenstans i det där att de har behörighet att lägga sig i brottsutredningar.

Justitiedepartementet och Attorney General: Leder det federala brottsbekämpningsarbetet och avgör i gränsfall eller vid överlappande ansvar vilken myndighet som ska leda en specifik utredning.

Lokalt vs. federalt: Lokala brott utreds av stads- eller delstatspolisen. Om ett brott bryter mot federal lag avgör det lokala åklagarämbetet (U.S. Attorney's Office) tillsammans med federala organ vilket departement som griper in.

Mordet på Charlie Kirk är väl inte ens klassat som terrordåd.

Det betyder ändå inte att de får lägga sig i en brottsutredning på eget bevåg.

Ett politiskt mord av den digniteten måste givetvis klassas som möjligt terrordåd.

Jo om utländsk makt kan ligga bakom.

Nej det måste det uppenbarligen inte alls. Även om det kallas ett politiskt mord har det inte klassats som terrordåd.
