Var betyder "oecumenia"?

Snabb fråga: vad betyder ordet "oecumenia"? Har läst ordet flera gånger nu i en engelsk översättning av den franske filosofen Emmanuel Levinas verk Totality and Infinity (Totalité et Infini: essai sur l'extériorité). Hittar ingenting alls när jag söker på nätet. Är det ett engelskt ord? ett franskt översättaren struntat i att översätta? Ordet används exempelvis i detta stycke:

"For the intimacy of recollection to be able to be produced in the oecumenia of being the presence of the Other must not only be revealed in the face which breaks through its own plastic image, but must be revealed, simultaneously with this presence, in its withdrawal and its absence." (s. 155)

Levinas kan givetvis använda ordet i en annan betydelse (franska intellektuella har ju vana att göra det)... så jag vet inte hur mycket det där hjälpte dig.
