The media in particular had to believe it on Thursday morning. According to suspect Henk Kuipers, everything about him has been suggested by journalists. ,,Wrongly. Because nothing happened. ''
After two previous hearings at which Kuipers was questioned by the judges about extortion, threats and violence, today the question is whether the 55-year-old Henk Kuipers from Emmen has led a criminal organization. It is one of the accusations of the Public Prosecution Service.
Combative
Kuipers was not only combative, but also agitated. The judges noted that they thought it was special that Kuipers talks a lot, while he had the word 'omerta' tattooed on the back of his head. The judges noted that omerta is a concept that comes from the Italian mafia and has to do with silence.
Kuipers: ,, What nonsense this is.
I don't have a criminal record and you compare me to the Mafia in Italy? ''
Kuipers especially likes the tattoo. The movie The Godfather was the inspiration. “That film has received many Oscars. Then I may like that? ”
Organized association
According to the Public Prosecution Service, there are many indications - mainly obtained by listening to conversations in the club house in Emmen - that No Surrender was involved in crime in an organized context. The judges: "What is striking is that a lot of energy was put into foreclosure."
For example, jammers (jammers) were purchased and special telephones were used (non-eavesdropping PGP devices).
Rushed
Kuipers shrugged. "I don't even have a phone like that. How can I manage a criminal organization? A little leader has such a thing. Right? "" He says this is suggestive, too. Kuipers said he understands why some club members value their privacy. To the judges: "Do you realize how members of motorcycle clubs are being chased?"
Sixteen countries
That No Surrender grew into a large organization in a short time was not disputed by Kuipers. ,, You play first division, but you still want to go to the premier league. "At its peak, the club had 29 chapters in the Netherlands and No Surrender was active in sixteen countries. Judges: "From Australia to Suriname, from Thailand to Sweden." Do not exaggerate, Kuipers said. "
We had one member in Thailand, four in Sweden."
Normal club
Kuipers repeatedly stated that he did not like the questions asked by the judges. According to him, there is selective quotation from the file: only the negative things are said to him. Kuipers stated that conversations have also been overheard showing that No Surrender under his leadership is a normal club where drugs were not tolerated.
The criminal case will be continued on September 28. The Public Prosecution Service will then formulate the criminal demands against Kuipers and four co-suspects. It should take so long because, according to the court, it is not possible to get all those involved together earlier.
