I agree with you. But it is difficult to compare, because Tim's life since he was 17 was completely different from the 'normal' life of a teenager. How to prepare a child for a life like this? To be able to earn 500.000 USD a day at an age where others just start university or another education?
And all the pressure and obligations connected with this.
I don't know your situation, but this is not the life a normal mother like me expects for her children. I think I would be overwhelmed, with a teenager like Tim was. It's not always clear from the beginning which are the right decisions and which not.
(When I think of all the wrong decisions I made as a teenager, I'm really happy that these are not discussed in a forum)
I often tried to imagine Tim's situation when he was 18. He left his parents very early, perhaps because of the the big age difference? Already then Tim used to surround himself with all his friends to make music until late in the night. And then the great opportunity: the contract with Ash.
Tim said in an interview, that in the beginning his only wish was to have success with his music and to earn enough to support himself. Ash promised all that and it became true. Everything that later grew out of this could not be guessed at that time, not by a teenager and I think also not by his parents. And then everything went so fast, it is hard to imagine that Tim earned a fortune of more than 80 million dollars in just a few years, the time other young people need to finish their education.

I admire him for having stayed so normal and grounded and that he donated so much money for organizations and projects he believed in. From my point of view he tried to give the best he could.

I think all changed very fast for Tim. At school he was perhaps as you say the one who didn't get the girls. But Ash was the person who realized that Tim had everything to become a star, that he was not only a hard working and talented musician, but that he would become a cool, really good-looking guy with the right styling. Certainly Tim enjoyed this change, who would not, that suddenly the girls found him cute and sweet and the boys wanted to copy his look.
This is how Neil Jacobson described Tim 2010/2011:
"And when you saw him, he had this incredible look — the plaid shirt, the blond hair, the great record. He had this air of you couldn’t get close to him. He maintained that mystery in the first year when “Levels” was growing and growing. It was the great rise of modern EDM, modern dance music, and he rode the wave like a surfer. He was just right in the front of it."

I think at this point he had overcome the complexes, and the pimples he had as a teenager have nothing to do with what happened to Tim in Oman.

I agree. And about money, in that sense he really knew the value of money; he knew the value of money to do good for other people

I fully understand that Tim took the chance when it was offered by Ash and it seemed as they had a really good time the first few years. But when you start to loose organs in your body because of your lifestyle I think it is destructive not to change your life. I mean that his wishes to please others where very strong which can be a result of low self esteem. Anyway, it is easy for me to say as I have never been close to his situation. I think it is hard for anyone to get fame at that young age. I don’t like to see teenagers in programs like ”Idol”. There should be an age limit.

I think his bad selfconfidence led him to be used by letting himself be told to be someone whom he was not. After many years of being used he all of a sudden did not see any other way out of a life that was not his own.

I agree with most of what you say . He was far too young and unexperienced to manage all these quick changes in his life. And certainly he also underestimated the effect of alcohol on his body. I think it was also in the documentary when he said, that he saw others doing the same as he did (drinking) and they seemed to be healthy. But each persons constitution is different. And when he realized this it was perhaps not so easy to change his life from one day to another. I think it was not only his wish to please others, that made it difficult, but also all the contracts and obligations and everything connected with this.
