They're most likely mentally ill (or highly paranoid as a result of their general ignorance), but they're most certainly not a fraud; they're not a fraud because they really believe in the stupid bullshit they're saying; they're for real. Their problem is that they don't understand what they're talking about. For example, "NAZI regime" as they call it... Nazi what? What exactly do they know about National Socialist ideology to begin with, to even throw around such bold statements and strong accusations? Diabolic this, Satanic that, Masonic cult, etc. etc. It's ridiculous. It doesn't gain them any credibility.
I'm looking at
part 3 now, and Susan is complaining about the lack of comments, which she seems to think is weird. Well, to tell you the truth Susan, no one cares about your uninteresting case. People have better shit to do, and I regret that I wasted an entire weekend on helping your stupid ungrateful ass.
Their problem is, in short,
anti-intellectualism, and very high and powerful amounts of anti-intellectualism:

Their entire mentality is characterised by religious-like thinking, which explains their screwed up world-view.
Joseph Tropeano is sort of fucked up in the head, but Susan is the real nutcase, and she's egging him on in her paranoia about this Mario allegedly hacking their computer (what the hell does she know about hacking anyway, to start accusing people of hacking their computer?). It's a real sad and tragic dilemma they have gotten themselves into, and their reclusive behaviour isn't exactly helping their situation.
They should get a new hobby, read some books, discover the world and the universe, or something along those lines.
