Det är upp till Ukrainare att besluta om, right?

Ja men då är vi överens om att EU, trots sina brister, är långt bättre än det nordkoreanska statsskick som Putin har byggt upp i Ryssland under det senaste decenniet. Jag tror att det krävs en särskild sorts misslyckad individ för att vurma för det nuvarande ryska statsskick styrt av censur och propaganda, men det behöver vi inte gå in på här.

Det handlar också om att se till att Europas karta inte ritas om med våld igen som senast på 1940-talet. En rysk seger skulle självklart innebära en ökad säkerhetsrisk i vår del av Europa. En diktator som har lyckats en gång brukar försöka igen.

För både Ukrainas utveckling och ekonomi samt Europas ekonomi är det bättre att stå fria från ryskt inflytande. Det har utvecklingen i flera tidigare sovjetstater visat. Putin strävar efter total makt på ett sätt som Europa inte har sett sedan 1900-talets diktaturer. Samtidigt tömmer han lyckligtvis Rysslands ekonomi inifrån.

Kriget kommer sannolikt att gå till historien som ett katastrofalt misslyckande, och Ryssland kan för första gången tvingas lära sig att respektera sina grannländer och istället fokusera på att utveckla sig självt för att ha en chans i det moderna samhället.

För att det ska lyckas måste dock den nuvarande regimen i Moskva avgå och landet få en verklig demokrati. Där har jag inga större förhoppningar. Troligare är att Ryssland förblir det zombieimperium det är i dag: bortglömt av omvärlden och utnyttjat som en råvarubank av mer utvecklade nationer.

Samtidigt som landets befolkning förblir som idag uppdelat av enorma klasskillnader med miljoner fattiga och några rika oljeföretag samt den rika politiska eliten.

Ja den är väl värd at se. Larry Johnson betonar också att samma uppmärksamhet från FNs sida som ges åt de ukrainska civila offren i denna konflikt, bör ges till de ca 13000 ryska civila offren som fått sätta livet till efter ukrainska bombningar i Ryssland och i de numera rysk-kontrollerade områdena i Ukraina från 2014 till och med nu (2026).

Russian attacks injured 52 across Ukraine nationwide, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday, Oct. 15, as Moscow kept up its near-constant drone campaign against Ukrainian cities following a massive overnight barrage.

Zelensky provided the figure in a statement after meeting Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Brussels, saying Russia was using Shahed drones almost continuously and had struck a store, a pharmaceutical plant and logistics facilities during the day.
