It led to the other members of the then G8 suspending Russia from the group[52] and then introducing a first round of sanctions against the country. The United Nations General Assembly also rejected the referendum and annexation, adopting a resolution affirming the "territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders."[53][54] The UN resolution also "underscores that the referendum having no validity, cannot form the basis for any alteration of the status of [Crimea]" and called upon all states and international organizations not to recognize or to imply the recognition of Russia's annexation.[54]

In 2016, the UN General Assembly reaffirmed non-recognition of the annexation and condemned "the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine—the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol."[55][56]

Låter positivt. Men lite otroligt? Kherson är ingen liten by var jag förstått och har lite intilliggande områden som bör tas över innan man ger sig på stadskärnan. Kanske bör tilläggas att Skynews kommit med en hel drös med desinformation. Bland annat vid leveransen av vapen från Sverige nämnde de att vi hade landgräns till Ryssland och var medlemmar in NATO. Tänkte först att ryska trupper kanske börjat förflytta sig österut och saknar motivation att hålla ställningarna utanför Donbass varav många deserterar eller flyr istället.

Läste på annat håll att den ukrainska armen avancerar mot Kherson men att de i nuläget ligger 30km bort från staden , är väl lite väl optimistisk om att dessa trupper kan inta staden idag.
