CDC: MASK MANDATES, STAY AT HOME ORDERS AND CONTACT TRACING DECREASE COVID CASES DRAMATICALLY
07 NOVEMBER, 2020
A study showed that non-pharmaceutical interventions like state-mandated stay-at-home orders and
public mask mandates helped reduce cases, hospitalisations and deaths from COVID by more than
80 percent. These measures were used in conjunction with case investigations with contact tracing. The data, collected in the state of Delaware from April through June 2020, reduced deaths by 100 percent, hospitalisations by nearly 90 percent, and cases by 82 percent. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concluded, "The combination of state-mandated community mitigation efforts and routine public health interventions can reduce the occurrence of new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths."
