The epidemic•Global cases increased yesterday as cases in Europe picked up, with
a relatively large increase in France and the UK. The data remains volatile, however.
Policy
•France will start to ease restrictions gradually from Monday 11.Different regions will proceed in their own pacea nd restrictions remain in place in Paris for now. Primary schools and most businesses may open from Monday while cafes and restaurants and secondary schools may only open in June at earliest. Border controls apply until at least June 15.
•Australia’s prime minister announced at hree-stage exit plan.
•In Denmark, all shops will open from Monday and cafes, restaurants and school classes 6-10 a week later. Bars and entertainment venues will remain closed and border controls remain.
•In Norway, the whole school system may open from Monday. In June, bars, gyms, pools, and amusement parks may open, and 200 people allowed in events.
•Latvia will allow meetings of up to25 people from May 12 and kindergartens will open for the older children. Restaurants and entertainment venues are also allowed to open.
