Trump’s impiety towards the political system also seems to have garnered some support from a number of high-profile American citizens. Last September, business magnate Carl Icahn, showed strong support for his fellow billionaire and highlighted the importance of Trump being a candidate “outside of the political arena.”

Steve Schwarzman, the billionaire CEO of Blackstone, showed admiration in an interview with CNN Money for Trump’s political irreverence, going so far as to call him “a professionally politically incorrect person,” and claiming that this was good for democracy. As recently as this past Wednesday, Schwarzman made it clear that if the Republican presidential race came down to a faceoff between Trump and Cruz, that he would opt for Trump. But the most recently filed campaign spending disclosures indicated that, in the third quarter of 2015, he put up just a little more than $100,000 of his own money but reimbursed $723,000 to an aviation company he owns. He was able to subsidize his own travel thanks to donors: The disclosures show he accepted just under $4 million in individual contributions during the third quarter.

Given his myriad Jewish associations, Trump is not an unfamiliar face in Jewish circles. He has served as a grand marshal at New York’s annual Salute to Israel Parade. After Hurricane Katrina, he was among a group of celebrities who decorated Jewish federation tzedakah boxes to be auctioned off to support hurricane disaster relief. And in February, he was honored with an award at the annual gala for the Algemeiner, a right-wing Jewish news organization.
“I have a Jewish daughter. This wasn’t in the plan, but I’m very glad it happened,” Trump said at the event, held in Manhattan. On Israel, he said, “We love Israel. We will fight for Israel 100 percent, 1,000 percent. It will be there forever.”
Before the 2013 Israeli election, Trump recorded a video message endorsing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“You truly have a great prime minister in Benjamin Netanyahu. He’s a winner, he’s highly respected, he’s highly thought of by all,” Trump said in the 30-second spot. “Vote for Benjamin – terrific guy, terrific leader, great for Israel.”
