I know from reading this thread that there's some confusion over Heimstaden. But Studentkåren states that it's first come, first served, and so does the official international student guide from UU that I've just received. Does anyone care to weight in on this
again? Otherwise I'll assume they randomly decide to ignore queue times like it's been said. Maybe international students are treated differently? It seems unlikely.
Speaking of Heimstaden, I haven't been able to log in for a few days. My username isn't recognized even though it works when requesting an email for a password change (still can't log in via the password change portal though). Has anyone encountered this issue?
I have only been registered in queues since early December so I understand the odds of me getting a corridor room this fall are slim. I'd like preferably to move in at the end of July/beginning of August though. Some here have said that it could make things easier. But I don't suppose there's a lot of student rooms available then as the summer is rent-free. Can someone speak from experience on this one? Right now I can only see ads for June-August contracts, though I realise it's a bit early.
I'll probably end up with a private or a second hand contract at least for the first semester/year (though I have my Hilleberg tent...

). Knowing that I can't really go higher than 3500kr/m, is the market for these still cramped?
(I apologize for writing in English, but this is the most active thread I've found on student housing in Uppsala. Please feel free to write back in Swedish - I don't have much trouble reading it but the writing would take me hours and still be awkward. I'm a French Canadian enrolled in Early Modern Northern European studies, for those wondering. I spent a semester in Lund two years ago, guaranteed housing
and a view on Denmark from my room. Can't get this lucky twice.)
