Across the country, protesters have been toppling statues of Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin. Footage of the demonstrations — taking place in Bila Tserkva, Khmelnitsky and Zhytomyr — is popping up online, and the Ukrainians have made one thing clear: they want Lenin gone.

Of the nearly 1,500 Lenin memorials across Ukraine, protesters have reportedly destroyed around 100. Protesters have also created a website to map out all the locations where Lenin statues have been destroyed. Check it out below

In the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, home of Russia’s Black Sea naval base, hundreds of pro-Russia protesters massed outside the city’s main administrative building on Monday for more than five hours until the city council agreed to allow Alexei Chaliy, a Russian businessman, to take over immediately as mayor.
Waving Russian flags and wearing the arm bands of Russian Block, Crimea’s leading pro-Russia political party, the crowd grew angry, shouting slogans such as “We won’t let a fascist in!” and “Russia! Russia!”

The Voice of Russia, the Russian government’s international broadcasting service, reported that something called “Anonymous Ukraine” had supposedly released emails proving that Klitschko is “a puppet of the West” drawing on bank accounts in Germany to fund a “coup d’etat” by “Nazi killers” and “gangs of robbers” who “pose a threat to the free and security of Ukraine.” We should hope this only sounds like a prelude to an intervention.

The top law enforcement official for Viktor Yanukovych, the disgraced former Ukrainian president who is now a fugitive fleeing mass murder charges, had planned an even greater bloodbath to suppress anti-government protests, according to a member of parliament who said he has documents to prove his allegations.

He also said that, according to the documents, Russia played a role in the planned mass murders.

Moskal said that the former first deputy head of the general staff of the Russian Armed Forces’ Main Intelligence Directorate played a major role in planning the operations. Moskal said the Russian’s advice was needed because former acting Security Services head Oleksandr Yakymenko and Zakharchenko were not qualified to conduct such an operation. Yakymenko was a pilot and Zakharchenko was an economic crimes unit officer.

An e-mailed inquiry to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitri Peskov wasn’t immediately answered. The Russian Embassy in Kyiv was unavailable for comment.

Hackers of Anonymous Ukraine have leaked 130 Mb of emails allegedly stolen from the regional offices of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (UDAR), the party led by politician and former professional boxer Vitali Klitschko.

The attack is part of the campaign called OpIndependence, which aims at keeping Ukraine independent from NATO, the EU and other entities.

The most interesting of the leaked emails, totaling 9 Mb, have been uploaded separately on several file sharing websites.
