Deeply disappointed
Stadium manager Greg Smith is 'deeply disappointed' that today's proposed FA Cup third round fixture will not go ahead.
Match official Mr Fred Graham arrived early this morning to call the game off, deeming the frozen pitch unsafe for the teams to play on.
Smith explained that every effort was made in an attempt to allow the fixture to go ahead.
He said: "We had the frost covers on last week, as soon as possible. We had to wait for the frost to leave first, but sadly there was too much.
"There has been a prolonged cold period, but the frost has got underneath the sheets due to the moisture in the soil.
"We tried everything, as we did for Grimsby on Boxing Day. We've had the covers, blowers, and heaters on and we thought we had won the battle.
"The referee came in early this morning and to be fair he was brilliant. He was worried about injuries to the players."
He added: "Peter Trembling and club secretary Tony Cuthbert came in and helped. They were with us moving the blowers and the lights."
"I've lived here for a fortnight -some of us even slept over at the ground. We want to play every game and we are gutted for the fans.
"We shall be leaving the covers on this week and prepare again for the Macclesfield match. The forecast already for this week is cold temperatures."
Both Notts County and Forest Green will find out who their fourth round opponents could be later today when the draw takes place.
