The drone was found on August 14, 10 days after the incident, west of the airport. Investigators reportedly discovered around 50 grams (1.8 ounces) of a substance suspected to be the military explosive hexogen.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said the German government will "shortly" set out who it believes was behind the August 4 drone attack at Leipzig/Halle airport.
"They will pay for it," Merz said Tuesday before a Cabinet retreat in the state of Brandenburg, adding that authorities were working intensively to establish responsibility.
