Harry Truman believed the CIA was behind the assassination, as well. On December 22, 1963, the ex-President wrote a blistering editorial for the morning Washington Post about the government agency, saying it had strayed from its original goals to protect the President. Janney and other authors have read this to mean only one thing: Truman was indirectly pointing a finger at the Agency. However, the editorial was deleted from the afternoon edition of the Post and was never alluded to again in the media

Oddly enough, acid guru Timothy Leary is a supporting player in the story of the assassination conspiracy. Leary, a close friend of Mary Meyer's, turned her on to LSD and heard her express horror at the CIA's involvement in the Kennedy assassination and the scandalous evidence she had uncovered through her own research. She asked Leary to hide her away somewhere, fearing someone would kill her over what she knew; days later, somebody did.

Harold Weisberg was a Senate investigator and O.S.S. analyst who wrote the first book critical of the Warren Report, "Whitewash: The Report on the Warren Report" (1965). This interview took place on KGO San Francisco in the mid-1980s. The interview begins at 4:00.

BEVERLY — Next year marks the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s death, inviting a fresh deluge of books, articles, and documentaries about JFK’s murder and legacy, a legacy colored by ongoing revelations of Kennedy’s many extramarital affairs.

It’s doubtful, though, that any forthcoming book will get more personal, or more conspiracy-minded, than the new one produced by Peter Janney, 64, a Beverly psychologist and first-time author.
Janney’s 548-page tome, “Mary’s Mosaic: The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision for World Peace,” reads like a John Grisham thriller crossed with an Oliver Stone movie. Its sprawling narrative offers spies galore, missing documents, a sprinkling of Georgetown glitter, Cold War geopolitics, and even a role for LSD guru Timothy Leary.

Among Janney’s theories is this jaw-dropper: that Wistar, who died in 1979, knew in advance that Meyer had been targeted for murder – a murder ordered by the CIA because Meyer had read the Warren Commission Report on JFK’s assassination, disbelieved its findings, and was prepared to say so publicly. The report, released to the public three weeks before Meyer was killed, blamed JFK’s murder on Lee Harvey Oswald alone and not on some broader conspiracy.

Janney sees history differently. He’s convinced that the CIA, feeling threatened by Kennedy’s mistrust of the agency after the Bay of Pigs fiasco in Cuba, conspired to have the president killed, then eliminated Meyer as part of a coverup

This report was broadcast out of the New York headquarters of the ABC Radio Network on Friday, November 22, 1963 at 1:36:50 PM EST, approximately 6 1/2 minutes following the Kennedy shooting in Dallas, Texas.

This ABC Radio News flash was not only the first nationwide radio network bulletin concerning the JFK assassination but was aired before any of the television network bulletins on the assassination were broadcast that day. In this first ABC Radio bulletin, anchorman Don Gardiner is reading the very first wire bulletin on the shooting, which had been dictated by phone to United Press International from UPI correspondent Merriman Smith while Smith was in a press follow-up car in the Kennedy motorcade.
