If we take his word for it, though, we might consider “Ramrod” as much a courtship song as a seduction song (although certainly not a subtle one on either count), because our narrator spends the entire song trying to convince his little dolly/little baby/little sugar/little girl (congratulations if you’ve got your Springsteen Female Infantilizing Bingo card in front of you, don’t forget to fill in that free space!) to have sex with him all night.
Well hey little dolly with the blue jeans on
I wanna ramrod with you, honey, till half-past dawn
Let your hair down, mama, and pick up this beat
Come on and meet me tonight down on Bluebird Street
I’ve been working all week, I’m up to my neck in hock
Hey, come Saturday night I let my ramrod rock

Will You Love Me Tomorrow? med The Shirelles, skriven av
Carole King och
Gerry Goffin.
Is this a lasting treasure
Or just a moment's pleasure?
Can I believe the magic of your sighs?
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Tonight with words unspoken
You say that I'm the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning sun?

“Will You Love Me Tomorrow?” had lyrics that had rather more depth than most of the songs that were charting at the time. Goffin’s initial dislike of rock and roll music had been because of what he perceived as its lyrical vacuity, and in “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?” he found a lyrical formula that would define girl groups from that point on — a look at a kind of female adolescent emotion that had previously not been discussed in pop music. In this case the lyrics were from the point of view of a woman worrying that she’s just a one-night stand, not someone the man cares about, and struck a chord with millions.
