De ortodoxa kyrkornas syn på kriget - Patriarken Kirill anklagar ukrainska pridetåg

Finns det några initierade eller annars bara intresserade FB-are, som skulle vilja diskutera de ortodoxa kyrkornas roll i den pågående striden? Gärna skulle jag läsa vad personer med rötterna i ortodoxa länder, förutom Ryssland och Ukraina även Grekland, Serbien, Rumänien med flera, anser om det som sker.

Det torde vara rätt känt att den rysk-ortodoxa kyrkans överhuvud, patriarken Kirill av Moskva, är en av de mest hundlikt lojala anhängarna till president Putin som tänkas kan. Kyrkofursten har välsignat precis varenda åtgärd Putin vidtagit under sin bana, förklarat att den ryske presidenten är ett Guds redskap, och att allt han gör sker för att rädda den sanna kristenheten.

Det kan vara svårt för en namnkristen eller icketroende nordbo att begripa sig på sådan retorik. Hur uppfattar ni Kirills förkunnelse, ni som har ortodox kristendom i ert andliga bagage - oavsett hur troende ni är?

“In the Donbass there is rejection, a fundamental rejection of the so-called values that are offered today by those who claim world power. (Man kan påminna om att det nu är fastetid för fromma ortodoxa, en tid då man ska ångra sina synder extra mycket.)

It is very rare for such a large number of religious clerics of the Orthodox Church to openly challenge President Vladimir Putin's government. In recent years, the Russian Orthodox Church and its leader, Patriarch Kirill, who did not sign the letter, have fully supported Putin's policies.

"We call on all opposing sides for a dialogue because there is no other alternative to violence,” the letter says. “Only an ability to hear the other side can give us hope to get out of the abyss our countries were thrown into several days ago. The letter makes references to "judgment day” and “eternal suffering,” saying nothing on Earth can prevent that judgment.

The European Commission on Wednesday targeted the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, as part of its sixth package of sanctions against Russia.

According to a European External Action Service document seen by POLITICO, Kirill has been “one of the most prominent supporters of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine” and a key player in amplifying Russian President Vladimir Putin’s rhetoric on Ukraine.

The Commission highlighted a series of pro-war sermons and remarks by Kirill in the months since Russia’s lethal invasion began in February — plus his blessing for Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine.

Påven Franciskus har kritiserat "kollegan" Kirill i ovanligt skarpa ord i en intervju i Corriere della Sera. Frasse tycker inte Krille borde degradera sig till Puttes "altargosse". Enligt påven läste patriarken innantill i 20 minuters tid, och försvarade Puttes krigståg.

In his strongest words to date against the pro-war Patriarch, Francis also slammed Kirill for endorsing Russia's stated reasons for invading Ukraine.

"I spoke to him for 40 minutes via Zoom," the Pope told Italian daily Corriere della Sera in an interview published Tuesday. "The first 20 minutes he read to me, with a card in hand, all the justifications for war."

"I listened and told him: I don't understand anything about this," said the Pope. "Brother, we are not clerics of state, we cannot use the language of politics but that of Jesus."

"The Patriarch cannot transform himself into Putin's altar boy," the Pope said.
